Dhanteras will be celebrated on November 13 th, 2020 this year.
This is the day that most of the people go out to buy new things like utensils, gold coins, and jewelry.
Houses and offices are cleaned and giving Mala and decorated with earthen lamps and artificial lights.
This is the main day during the five-day Main festival and is also known as the day of Lakshmi Pujan.
This is because Goddess Lakshmi, who is the Goddess of wealth and prosperity, is worshipped on this day and pray in front of him.
The muhurat or auspicious timing for conducting Lakshmi Pujan this year is between-

After the conclusion of the prayers, everyone takes blessings from the holy flame and indulges in sweets as a prasad.
This is the time to meet and greet friends, family, and relatives and exchange gifts and sweets with each other.
This is the day right after Diwali and this year it will be celebrated on November 15 th, 2020 with full excitement.
This day celebrates the unique bond between husband and wife.
In some Indian regions, this is the day when husbands give gifts to their wives.
In other regions, parents invite their newly married sons or daughters along with their spouses to a family meal and bless them with gifts.
Bhaiya Duj is the last day of the five-day festival and this year.
It will be celebrated on November 16 th, 2020.
This day celebrates the bond between brothers and sisters.
On this day, the brother travels to his sister’s house with a gift.

The day is similar to another Hindu festival of Rakshabandhan.
Diwali is a very special occasion for the people of the Jain community also.
As per Jain history and scriptures, Lord Mahavira, the last of the Jain Tirthankaras, attained Nirvana or Moksha on the day of Diwali at Pavapuri on October 15, 527 BC.
And Lord Mahavira was the founder of Jainism.
This makes Diwali one of the most significant festivals for Jains also.
In Sikhism, after Baisakhi, it is celebrated.
The day on which Khalsa was formally established by the tenth Guru Gobind Singh in 1699.
And Diwali is considered a very important day, as many significant events of the Sikh history are associated with it.
Sikhs celebrate this Diwali in a big way and the day is also referred to as Bandi Chhorh Diwas and which stands for the day of release of detainees.
And where all of them were imprisoned on the orders of Mughal Emperor Jahangir.
The Sikh community rejoiced on the occasion by lighting up the Golden Temple and the tradition continues to date.
He protects the Sikh community from a genocide at the hands of Mughals in 1737 by canceling the Diwali celebrations at Golden Temple.
And his death motivated the Sikhs to struggle for freedom from the Mughal oppression.

Mantra Translation – O cow, who is Lakshmi Herself in the form of a cow and who bestows ghee for yadnyas, obliterate my sins.

8. WHY DIWALI IS CELEBRATED
As per Hindu mythology, the Diwali festival has many reasons to celebrate it and it plays a great role in human life to freshly starting their new year.
People beliefs that what they do at the festival of Diwali they will do that for the whole year.
That’s why people do good work, do more shopping at Dhanteras, lighten every corner of their home with lamps, distribute sweets, make friends.
And offer puja to Lord Ganesha and Goddess Lakshmi to get peace and prosperity.
Take a well and healthy diet, eat luxurious food, decorate their home and other activities so that they can do all that for the whole year.
The teacher takes regular classes, students practice their study for more hours at Diwali.
As per Hindu Mythology, these are the following mythological, legendary and historical reasons of why do we celebrate Diwali-
He Returns on the new moon day in the month of Kartik with wife Sita and brother Lakshman after vanquishing the demon king Ravana.
The people of Ayodhya were very happy as Sri Ram is coming.
And they had celebrated the returning day of Sri Rama.
They have decorated their home and the entire kingdom with the earthen lamps and firing crackers.
Goddess Lakshmi is the Owner of wealth and prosperity.
It is considered that Goddess Lakshmi had come into the universe on the new moon day known as Amavasya in the month of Kartik.
After the long-churning of the ocean of milk known as sheer Sagar by the group of Demon and God.
That’s why that day was started being celebrated as the festival of Diwali to commemorate the birthday of Mata Lakshmi.
According to Hindu Mythology, once upon a time, there was a great demon king Bali.
He wanted to become the owner of all three Loka i.e. Earth, Sky and Patal Loka.
Lord Vishnu had to save all the three Loka (in his Vamana avatar, 5th incarnation).
And Lakshmi from his prison to continue the rule of the universe made by God and run smoothly.
From then, that day was started being celebrating as a victory of supreme God over the evil power and rescuing the goddess of wealth.
And Along ago there was demon king Narakaasur who had tortured the people and arrested around 16000 women in his prison.
Lord Krishna had saved the life of all those women from Narakaasur by killing him.
From that day onwards it is celebrated to commemorate the victory of truth over the evil power.
According to the great Hindu epic, Mahabharata, Pandavas had returned to their Virata kingdom at the Amavasya in the month of Kartik after a long period of 12 years of banishment.
The people of the kingdom of Pandavas were very happy for coming kingdom of the Pandavas, own place.
While most of the people perform Lakshmi Pooja only on Diwali, it should be a daily ritual only.
According to Panchang, Diwali Puja should be done at an appropriate muhurat which occurs at a fixed Lagna, Prados time and Amavasya Tithi.

Bhagawan Ganapati Puja: Sankshipt five-step Ganesha Pujan Vidhi
Nav-Graha Puja: Sankshipt Navagraha Pujan
Shodasha Matrika-Puja: Sankshipt Shodasha Matrika Pujan
New Ganesha Pratima Puja: Shodashopachara Puja of Shri Ganesha
New Shri-Lakshmi Pratima Puja: Shodashopachara Puja of Shri Lakshmi
Maha Kali Puja: Maha-Kali Puja on Lekhani-Dawat
Saraswati Puja: Offer prayers to Goddess Saraswati
Kuber Puja: Shri Kuber-Puja on Tijori-Baksa
Visarjan: Do Diwali Puja with prayer and aarti then Visarjan.
All the above prayers are done with full rituals and faith.
While the entire Diwali Puja might take hours to take the finish and it can begin before Lakshmi Puja Muhurta.
So that Lakshmi Puja time coincides with the available Muhuarta time.
The remaining puja can continue after Lakshmi Puja beyond the Muhuarta time and the Diya lit during Diwali puja must continue to the whole night.
The festival of lights, Diwali is the harbinger to hope and inspires one and all to take initiative and light a candle rather than to curse the darkness everywhere.
Diwali is not just about outer illumination, but it promotes the awareness of the inner light of every human being.
The spirituality is the true essence of Hinduism and it prophesizes that a person is not just a body or a mind but something beyond it.
