1. Rahu-Ketu Story–

In Indian mythology, they are believed to be a demon called Swarbhanu and who had participated in the churning of the ocean.

Many things came out of the ocean one by one.

At the end of that, ‘Amrita‘ or nectar came out.

According to Indian mythology, those who drink this nectar become immortal.

The gods were worried that if the demons too drank the nectar, then they would become unconquerable.

So, they requested Lord Vishnu to help them immediately.

However, Lord Vishnu took the form of Mohini.

Mohini so maneuvered that and the sitting arrangement that Gods first get that nectar.

The demon catch this trick and Swarbhanu ( a Demon) took the form of a god and positioned himself in between Sun and Moon.

When his term came Demon also received elixir from the disguised Lord Vishnu.

Before Swarbhanu could drink fully the elixir Sun and Moon identified him as a Demon.

Lord Vishnu severed off his head with Sudarshan Chakra immediately.

However, some drops of the elixir of life had gone down to his neck hence both the head and the body became immortal.

The head over a period of time got the body shape of a serpent and he was named Rahu.

A Brahmin named Mini took the body.

This became Ketu and who in the due course of time became a saintly and revered seer.
